It's the most wonderful time of the year!

And here's why!!

The month of hot cocoa, sugar cookies, red and green lights all through the neighborhood...

It's no surprise that my favorite event is barrel racing.

Propagating Succulents

Succulents!
I can't get enough...really!
Remember the ones I planted back in February?
Click here for the original post.
I can't get over how much they have grown.
Some of my succulents have become "leggy"

I started propagating a few months ago and was worried with what the outcome might be.
I have killed more plants then grown in my life time.
But surprisingly they have been doing very well!

Little baby succulents!

So since I haven't killed these ones...yet...I decided to propagate some more in preparation for spring next year :)

How to Propagate Succulents

1. So like I mentioned, it's best to propagate succulents that have seem to out grown their current container.
Succulents get "leggy" when they are not getting enough light. So they try and reach out to it

2.  Starting from the bottom of your succulent, grip a leaf firmly and gently twist back and forth until the entire leaf comes off.

3. Before you put your succulents in soil, make sure that the ends callous over and are dry. If you put them right into soil they will get too much absorbed water and could rot and die.

4. Once the ends have calloused, place the leaves right on top on the soil and stick the rosette into the soil. I very rarely water them at this stage. I usually don't water until I see small buds starting to appear.

Succulents are so easy to propagate and will actually do it on their own.

I didn't plant those really small succulents, those are from the leaves falling and they began to bud and took root.

Here is what they look like when they start to form a root.

I will post an update on them in a few weeks or months depending on growth.
Fingers crossed I can give an update on most if not all :)
Good luck little succulents!

Wine + Pintrest = LOVE!

So my love for a good glass of Cabernet Sauvignon is of no secret to most.
I also have a small addiction to Pintrest.

I think planning a wedding and developing a Pintrest addiction kind of go hand and hand.

(My mom pronounces it Pin-Interest, btw, it just drives me nuts)

So when there is wine there are wine bottles.

And when there are wine bottles, there are Pintrest crafts to be made!

I saw this on Pintrest a few months ago and I was pretty into it.

re-purposed wine bottles. Absolutely adorable!

I tried to remake it and I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.

I didn't want to use a flower for my "O" but that is all my stolen creative mind could come up with .

So...as simple as this project may look I still thought I would include my How To's

You wrap an empty glass wine bottle (make sure to use hot glue every 4 wraps or so) with twine and stick objects that resemble letters on it.

Everything I used I already had.

Unused flowers, pearls, yarn and a burlap flower.

That's it!

So simple so cute!

This is how it came out before I could decide on an "O"

I love the look with the daises!

Real flowers, however, can start to add up in costs so I found little autumn knickknacks in the floral section at Michael's.

I still have my spider wed table runner on from Halloween...oops!

I probably should make a run to homegoods to find something more "harvest" instead of "creepy"

Now I just have to think of how to fill them for Christmas...

Hmm...

I'm thinking, glitter, pine cones and pine needles.

We'll see!!

A wise man once said...

I'm feeling "quotey" (word?) today...

Had a wonderful talk with a friend that I haven't talked to in some time last night and being the emotional person I am, I kept  the hubby to be up late last night talking to him about our conversation until I finally fell asleep.

I am a TRUE  believer that when your soul needs something, or you ask  for advice, help, guidance, or what ever the case may be...you will receive it.

Will it come it a form that you will recognize it?

More times than not, no.

It won't come with a big flashy sign saying "hey! I'm here to answer your prayers" it's more subtle.

It might be in the form of a friend, stranger, commercial on TV...just most of the time we do not see it.

I was lucky enough to KNOW why last night of all nights, she called me, and I had time to devote to her, to sit down, no TV, no goofiness from Matt; just pure undivided attention.

And the message I was searching  for was loud and clear.

So when I woke this morning and I was doing my morning reading/soul-searching, I found myself being drawn to inspirational quotes.

I love reading what other people have written that "speaks" to me.
It's that exact moment you feel "I am not alone"

Someone else has been here...

Someone else has gotten through it...

Someone else SAID it...

Can I share a few of these quotes with you?

Love Mr. Einstein!

Beauty is..

E.E. Cummings

Winston Churchill

I have a few more but I will end it with one more...my favorite...

...

Life it TOO short to be anything but happy.

Dana
